St Anton, Gressoney, Verbier
Our breathtaking Backcountry off-piste ski courses stand alone as some of the most sought after off-piste skiing holidays available. Let us take you into the deepest backcountry to experience a holiday full of truly unforgettable skiing experiences that will last a lifetime.
What's involved on a Backcountry week?
Our Backcountry courses are one of the few courses on the market bridging the divide between guiding and instructing. Not only do we take you to the most amazing off-piste, we also help take your skiing to a new level. Backcountry courses are all day for 5 days and include 2.5 days with mountain guides and 2.5 days with Snoworks instructors. All the skiing is accessed by ski lift with no skinning or hiking involved to maximising downhill time. Occasionally guides or instructors may choose to hike up a short distance to access some great slopes but this is decided as a group. In Gressoney there's the chance to helidrop on the Monte Rosa.
If you've not been exposed to the Snoworks All-Mountain philosophy it will leave you aghast with its simplicity. See All-Terrain and Off-Piste for more information.
Our instructors will work with you for a full 2.5 days. That's the same amount of time as one of our specialist Off-Piste courses. Imagine how much you can improve with that amount of instruction. Combine that with 2.5 days of guiding with mountain guides who take you well out backcountry to the best and least tracked slopes possible and you probably have the best off-piste courses on the market.
Levels
Backcountry courses are for Level 4 upwards see Levels. We have between 4 to 6 groups running so there is plenty of scope to cater for all levels. Level 4 means you may have no prior off-piste experience; 5 you can ski most places off-piste; 6 you can ski everywhere fast.
St Anton
Austria’s premier ski resort, the birthplace of alpine skiing, a mecca for off-piste. St Anton, Zurs, Lech, Rendle, Stuben and more. All on one ski pass with masses of hidden powder. You can still ski fresh tracks long after it has snowed and if you're looking for steeps gullies, off the top of the Schindlergrat is fantastic or take Valluga 3 and drop off the North Face (only accessible with guides). St Anton rarely lets us down! Book early as this course fills up quickly. See Dates & Prices for St Anton.
Gressoney
Gressoney is an off-piste paradise, relatively unknown and linked to Alagna. One snow fall and you can still make fresh tracks after 2 weeks! The Punta Indren reaches an incredible height of 3,300 metres. Ski off-piste all-day and ski only 3 runs! The top of the Indren back to Gressoney alone can take up to half a day to ski as the off-piste runs are never ending! With the option of heli drops high up on the Monte Rosa and skiing into Zermatt and back. This is definitely a place not to be missed. See Dates & Prices for Gressoney.
Verbier
The home of 'Freeride', need we say more. There are some world famous descents here. The back of Mont Fort, Vallon d'Arby, Tortin, Gentianes, Stairway to Heaven, Rock Garden, Col de Mines, Fontanet, Mont Gelé and Creblet Couloirs are some of the more well-known. Also the possibility of heliskiing off the Petit Combin. Just one word WOW! See Dates & Prices for Verbier.
The Snoworks Backcountry course exceeded my expectations by far. Not only did we experience some unforgettable off-piste, the simplicity of the instruction transformed my skiing.
